Description: Bike half way around Mount Fuji through the countryside surrounding the iconic mountain and along the shores of all of the Fuji Five Lakes. This tour not only takes you to an ancient shrine and a beautifully-preserved thatched-roof village but also on a thrilling long downhill ride through Mount Fuji's scenic western foothills and to a majestic waterfall that are among the famous 100 Views of Japan.

Our support car first brings you to a high-elevation lake where you'll bike on dedicated cycling paths and boardwalks from which swans can be seen floating close to shore. You'll visit a nearby flower park where Fuji's iconic peak rises up behind vast fields of colorful blooms.

Next, bike downhill to a second lake whose quiet country roads lead to breathtaking waterfront vista points. In autumn you'll ride under arches formed by maple branches covered with bright red and yellow leaves. Stops include an atmospheric shrine in a cypress grove where our guides will demonstrate basic Shinto rituals and you can follow along if you wish.

The journey then takes you to a third lake with scenic shores relatively few tourists ever see. Explore on foot at a village where local artists display elaborate hand-made crafts in a setting that retains the look of ancient Japan. The village is a fantastic place to view Mount Fuji foregrounded by lanes of cherry trees that are covered with bright pink blossoms in spring.

As you cycle on to the shores of the most remote two of the Fuji Five Lakes, awe-inspiring views of the iconic mountain are framed by aquamarine waters and lush forests. The day closes with a ride by pastoral farms to one of Japan's most enchanting waterfalls.

This tour is a good match for people of average or better fitness who are up for a day of moderate outdoor activity. It's an excellent choice if you're interested in getting off the beaten path and experiencing a wide variety of natural, historical and cultural attractions in Japan's picturesque countryside.
